A parable

A wise man was sitting on the street, soaking a golfball in a cup of water. A passerby asked him why he was doing such a thing. The wise man replied "Because it is the fashion." The passerby then asked "If it was the fashion to jump off a cliff, would you?" The wise man responded "No, of course not."
